Hello! My name is Elena Wilkinson.
Wool has been part of my life for many years. I first learned to spin out of curiosity, holding a simple drop spindle in my hands. Soon it became more than a hobby, I discovered the rhythm of spinning, the quiet patience of weaving, and the joy of creating something lasting with my own hands.
I love working with natural fibres, turning fleece into yarn, and yarn into warm, beautiful things. Through this journey I became part of the spinners’ and weavers’ guild in Christchurch, where I found not only skills but also friendship and a deep sense of belonging.
I believe that knowledge should be shared and passed from one generation to another. This is part of what keeps the craft alive and meaningful. I talk more about this idea in my blog, where I reflect on traditions, new experiences, and the connections that wool can create.
