A Warm Welcome to Darya Kitova

Every new crafter brings something special to our community, and today I’m happy to introduce Darya Kitova. We met quite recently, and I remember how she told me that finding a wool craft community in New Zealand was not easy at first. She moved here with a heart full of love for spinning and knitting, but for a long time she felt like she was working on her projects alone.

That’s why it was such a joy when she finally discovered our circle of makers. Darya’s eyes lit up as she spoke about the feeling of belonging — about how wonderful it is to meet people who share the same passion for yarn, fibre, and creativity.

Her style is both gentle and expressive. She loves working from the very start of the process — twisting wool on a spindle, preparing the yarn — right through to the last stitch of a finished piece. What I admire most is her ability to turn craft into stories: every shawl, sweater, or toy she makes carries not only skill, but also a sense of warmth and personality.

It’s never easy to step into a new community, especially in a new place, but Darya has done it with courage and kindness. I know she will bring inspiration and a fresh perspective to us all.

Welcome, Darya — we’re so glad you found your way here!
